At the end of this workshop, students will be able to perform a 5- to 20-minute chair massage. The instructor will integrate compressions, trigger points, acupressure, sports and deep tissue massage techniques to meet specific client needs. This is an excellent method for marketing massage, since it allows the clients to experience your touch in a non-threatening way. It is ideal for clients who only need a little work, or have limited funds, or who are nervous about making an appointment for a full-body massage with an unknown therapist.
The instructor, Anita Moller, was a co-owner of Minute Massage, a business that offered chair massage at the Palm Springs Village Fest for many years. She has a private practice based on clients she developed doing chair massage and is very involved in community affairs in the high desert. anita has been a leader in revising massage licensing laws in her area, to the benefit of local therapists. She is a good role model for practitioners who feel shy or don't know how to speak up and promote their massage services.
