Cranial-sacral Therapy

Cranial-sacral therapy, developed in the 1930s by W. G. Sutherland, emphasizes the effect of the flow of cerebrospinal fluid on the movement of the cranium and spine. During flexion the occiput and the sphenoid rotate toward each other and the paired bones such as the parietals and the temporals rotate outward, slightly widening the head. At the same time, the spinal cord is lifted and the sacrum rotates. During extension, bones and tissues return to their original positions. These movements can be analyzed by sensitive fingers held on each side of the head, on the sacrum, or the limbs. Students will learn to recognize normal and abnormal movement and will learn a sequence of movements designed to normalize cranial-sacral movement, as well as indications and contraindications.

Bring the basics: linen, notebook and pen, water bottle, beach towel or light blanket in case the air conditioning is too cold.
