Lomi Lomi
"Lomi lomi" is the Hawaiian word that means "massage." Traditionally a generic term for any kind of massage, it has come to be identified with a specific style of Hawaiian massage that uses choreographed movements and rhythm in a massage sequence performed with hands, forearms, and elbows. Students will learn the basic movements of lomilomi and a detailed massage sequence.
Mariellen Boss, HHP, has traveled to Hawaii and Florida to study lomi lomi. She owns a massage and facial business in Palm Springs. She is a graduate of Somatherapy, and also teaches lymph drainage massage and ayurvedic techniques at Somatherapy.
