We are proud to offer a wide variety of excellent seminars, many taught by guest instructors who are leaders in their fields. Seminars are scheduled on weekends, during the week, some even in the evenings, so they are convenient for working therapists. Our seminars are open to massage therapists, estheticians, physical therapists, nurses, and related fields.
To register print the seminar enrollment agreement and mail the completed form with payment to the school at the address below. Reservations will not be accepted without payment.
Notification of withdrawal or cancellation and any request for a refund must be made in writing and must be delivered to the school prior to the first day of instruction. Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Notice of cancellation and a request for a refund may be hand-delivered, mailed or faxed to the school at 2100 N. Palm Canyon, C-100, Palm Springs, CA 92262. The fax number is 760-323-2095.
If written notice of cancellation is received by the school prior to the first day of instruction, the school will refund all fees paid for the seminar minus an administrative fee of $50.00. If written notice of cancellation is not received by the school prior to the first day of instruction or if the student simply does not attend the seminar, the school will retain all fees paid for the seminar and no refund will be given.
Payment of refunds will be made within 30 days of determination of withdrawal. Example: If a student paid $100.00 for a seminar, and then was unable to attend, the student would receive a refund of $50.00 if written notice of cancellation was received before the first day of instruction. The student would receive no refund if written notice of cancellation was not received before the first day of instruction or if the student simply did not attend the seminar at all or left early.
In order to receive a certificate verifying completion of the seminar, the student must attend the entire seminar. Any student who misses part of the seminar will not receive a certificate, although he/she will receive credit for the actual hours attended on his/her transcript. For example a student who arrives an hour late or leaves early will not receive a certificate at the end of the seminar. The instructor will keep track of attendance and turn the attendance into the office. Actual hours attended will be noted on the student's transcript, which is mailed out at the end of the quarter.
For all seminars, bring the usual supplies: linen, oil, water bottle, notebook and pen, a cover such as a beach towel or light blanket (because of the air conditioning). If other supplies are needed, you will be notified when you register. There is no student lunchroom, so any student who brings lunch should probably keep lunch in a small ice chest in his/her car. The school is close to dozens of restaurants and students are usually allowed an hour for lunch.
Desert Resorts School of Somatherapy does not require students to wear a uniform but does have a simple dress code. Students must be covered with opaque clothing from the collar to the mid-thigh, and must have sleeves. Shoes should be appropriate, non-skid and secure, which means that backless shoes, beach shoes and the like are not acceptable. Tank tops, spaghetti straps, bare midriff, low cut necklines, short shorts, and clothing that is either too large or too tight are not appropriate.
